UK Job Interviews and Success Rates – What Should Candidates Expect?

Hi everyone, I’m currently in the middle of a job search in the UK and I’m trying to stay realistic instead of overly optimistic. One thing I keep thinking about is how unpredictable job interviews can be. Sometimes you feel the interview went great, but then you never hear back. Other times you think you messed up, and suddenly you get invited to the next stage. This made me curious about actual UK job interview statistics. Are there any real numbers about interview success rate or how often candidates receive offers after interviews? I believe that understanding job interview statistics could help reduce anxiety and make the whole process less personal. Has anyone looked into this or compared statistics with their own experience?

I completely agree with you—interviews can feel like a guessing game. I had the same doubts and decided to look up proper UK job interview statistics instead of relying on feelings. I found some very clear data here The statistics show that the interview success rate is much lower than most candidates expect, which explains why rejection is so common even after good interviews. From my own journey, I noticed that competition plays a huge role, especially for popular roles. Knowing the numbers helped me stay calm and stop overanalyzing every interview. Once you see that this is a numbers game, it becomes easier to stay focused and consistent.
